2010 One Pine Lake fishing

Hi Michelle,
Here are 3 photos: a 23″ Walleye from the inlet on One Pine; a 36″ Northern from Strawberry Lake, and….a 41″ Northern from One Pine, just around the corner from the cabin. All were released to be caught again by me next year.

Herod Lake Sunset

Dave and Michelle … attached are photos from our fly-in fishing trip to Herod in June. As it turns out, we didn’t get a good photo of Dad’s 36″ Northern, but here is one of Vince’s 37″.

Thanks for a great trip and I hope you have a great season.

Onepine Lake fishing trip

Dave and Michelle,

Just a quick note to let you know what a great time we had on our fly-in trip to One Pine Lake. We have been on trips with other outfitters, but none have combined the service, facilities and unbelievable fishing like we enjoyed on this trip. This was our first trip with Nestor Falls Fly-In Outpost, but will not be our last. We are hooked.

Again, thanks for making this such a memorable vacation for my family and I.

I have enclosed some of our favorite photos, including two 25″ Walleye caught by myself and my son Brandon.

Mars

I am sure that most of you have received the notice that this month and August Earth is catching up with Mars in an  encounter that will culminate in the closest  approach between the two planets in recorded history.

The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky.

Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That’s pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at
the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

WILDLIFE SIGHTING

Larus Lake Moose

Sometimes you are privileged to glimpse a moose standing in a bay; Jim Bach was blessed to capture this Cow Moose with her Twin Calves this spring on his fly-in fishing trip at Larus Lake Beach cabin.

What I like best about living in the north is Mother Nature. You just never know what you are going to see and what you will capture on film.

MOTHER NATURE

So last night this storm comes out of nowhere with lots of rain, lightening and a bit of hail. After the storm I was walking around looking at the damage and I saw six maybe more baby partridges scurrying around eating the bugs off the grass. They were so cute. I was thinking about running for the camera but I was afraid I would miss them.

FISHING REPORT FROM UP NORTH

July 10th, 2010. Published under Uncategorized. No Comments.

Fish are biting and the weather has been nicer up north than what we are having here at Nestor Falls Fly-In. The Walleyes are moving out of the shallow waters to the deeper points and reefs. We just had a 30 inch Walleye released at Herod Lake yesterday they promised to email me the picture. I saw the photo it was a beauty. The Walleye are in about 12-25 feet of water. The Northern are moving out of the bays to the deeper water 10- 15 feet.
